This theme is modified for Textpattern 4.0, it is not tested on earlier versions, so I’m not sure whether does it work on earlier versions or not.

If your textpattern wasn’t installed in the root directory of your web server, you will have to change the paths for the image files, in both the CSS stylesheet and page template.

If you have any question, please send your message to me via this contact form.

Let’s begin with the installation:

  1. The Three-Columns MX4 theme requires only one page templates, as I assume you wouldn’t wanna change page layout of the same design within your website. Modify the template for special sections if neccessary. Therefore, once you have logged into your Admin area, go to “presentation/pages” and copy the contents of the “default.txt” file in the folder: “pages”. Make sure in “presentation/sections”, all sections are set to use “default” page.
  2. Now go to the “presentation/style” and copy the contents of the default.txt in the folder “css” into the default CSS and press save.
  3. Now go to the “presentation/forms” and copy the contents of the files in the folder “forms” to the corespondent form. For example, copy the content of “comments.txt” to the form “comments”.
  4. Simply upload the files in the “images” directory into the images directory on your server.
  5. No plugins are required for this theme; however, the zem_contact plugin is included by Thame if you would like to add a contact form. Go to “admin/plugins”, you can either copy the contents of the plugin text files into the top text box, or you can browse to the location of the MX4 plugin folder you downloaded and install each plugin that way. In both cases, once the plugin is selected, a page with a lot of code will show up with and “Install” button. Selcet this button and you will return to the plugin page. Then, click on the word “No” to activate the plugin.

Done.

    1. Oh man, I wish this had come out about a month ago. I could have saved several hours trying to do the same thing. :-D

I used my middle column for “sidenotes” a mini blog-within-a-blog. I used a different section for these posts, then used a custom list to display them on my homepage.

One of these days, I’ll get back to the redesign.

    1. lol, you could have shared your template, saving me time trying to do the same thing too =D

    1. Message to Florence, who asked about ad placement as in portablegadgets.net :

Please leave me your correct email address, it seems like the email address you filled in the contact form doesn’t exist and i can’t reply to you.

      Thanks.

    1. Great template! I wonder if there is a way to highlight the section you enter. For example, if u make a static page for “about” and you klick on that link in the navbar – “abot” would be highlighted, instead of “home”
