After observing Alex Tew’s The Million Dollar Homepage and seeing it became a successful attempt, I decided to borrow his brilliant idea and start Homepage of The Year.
Here’s the idea, selling ads space in 10×10 pixel block which are held within the boundaries of the digits of the year to make the digits stand out from the background. As you can see from the screenshot, the spaces inside the digits 2005 are divided into 10×10 pixel blocks (total of 2358 blocks for year 2005). Other than that, I’m trying to make Homepage of The Year useful to certain people, by collecting notable links for the year, divided into four categories: Activities of The Year, Top Stories of The Year, Yearly Contents, and Scientific Discoveries / Technology Breakthrough.
Will this work? Honestly I have no idea, I’ll take the last three months in 2005 as an experimental quarter. At the same time, I’ll most likely start a Malaysian version or even versions for other countries with lower pricing. The problem with Malaysian version might be the difficulty in collecting quality links. If anyone of you are interested in contributing and get a share of the revenue, feel free drop me a message.
