Flock - The Future Competitor For Firefox?

Flock

I received the link for the Flock Developer Preview 0.5pre last week and, I love it! It’s pretty much like Firefox, but in a way, it’s unique with some of its features and user interface.

I like how it let you add feeds of a website, as well as the fact that it comes with a built-int feeds reader which will auto update the feeds every hour. And also, if you’re a blogger, you might like its built-in blog editor, which works for most blogware such as Wordpress and MovableType (I tested it with Textpattern but it seemed like I need to do some adjustment with Textpattern to make it working).

Flock

I didn’t run any benchmarking on it. However by observing the system resources in Windows Task Manager, Flock seems to have better memory management than Firefox.

To see what else Flock browser can do, please read this page.

    1. Me says:

Nice, but doesn’t work with TXP :(

    1. Flock might have better memory management, but it’s full of pointless bloat that I’ll never use. The blog tool is defective (come on guys, blogs have CATEGORIES these days!), the bookmarking feature doesn’t work AT ALL (I understand the reason for having a del.icio.us connection, but surely the browser favourites should work without having to have a del.icio.us account?) and the rendering engine is even more broken than Fx’s. I’ll stay where I am just now :)

    1. i actually gave up on testing Flock in less than a week xD it still had memory leak, just somehow the condition was better than fx back then. the blog tool was alright but kind of pointless as when you need to do more with content/image/file management, you still have to go back to the control panel of your blogware.

right now, i’m back on fx 1.5 with tons of delicous extensions, i’ll just wait for 1.6 full released instead of testing it.
