Google has released the beta version of its instant messenger called Google Talk. Even though there’s no statistic figure showing how many times have the client been downloaded, I believe it’s gonna be a major player in the IM(instant messenger) world, and likely to become the number one IM. Just like Google Search, Google Talk has a nice and GUI. As it runs on Jabber protocol, it’s basically usable on any OS(Operating System). For example, you can connect to Google Talk using third party applications such as GAIM, iChat, Adium, Trillian Pro and Psi (see the link at the end of this article). I tried to connect to Google Talk using Miranda IM. However I couldn’t get it working, if you know how to get it working, please let me know.
Ok here’s another thing I like about Google Talk’s client, it does give you a popup float at the bottom-right corner of your desktop for new incoming message when the chat window is minimized, just like MSN Messenger does. And as you might have thought of, Google Talk comes with built-in Gmail notifier as well as voice chat :)
