I just installed IE7 Beta1 few hours ago. As expected there’s no surprises in the new IE. Phishing filter is probably the only feature that’s new and no other browsers have implemented it yet. Beta 1 is pretty much an end user version even though it’s released for the developers as Microsoft claimed on their website:
“The Beta 1 release signals that Internet Explorer 7 has reached an important milestone, with a number of key new features and improvements, and is ready for website and application compatibility testing. This release is specifically intended for developers to confirm that existing applications and websites will work well with Internet Explorer 7, and provides an opportunity for developers to give feedback directly to the development team. There will be further refinement between Beta 1 and the final version.”
Even though there’s no surprises, there’s one particular feature I like, which is the method to open a new blank tab with single click. You don’t have to press Ctrl-T nor click more than once to open a new blank tab, all you have to do is to click on the square tab (circled in the screenshot). Besides, Java applet seems pretty stable on IE7 Beta1, unlike previous versions of IE :)
