I've been a big fan of Mozilla Firefox ever since the age when it was still called Mozilla Firebird. I love it with all the extensions available for users to customize their very own browser. However I notice it always consumes too much memories, always over 100MB with just a few tabs opened, that’s kinda bad when I’m doing photo editing or any other stuff that is memories consuming, sometimes I even have to force terminate Firefox to gain back control of my notebook computer. Comparing with Firefox, Internet Explorer and Opera have relatively low memory usage, while Mozilla consumes as much as Firefox does, if not more.
So which is the best browser? According to this browser speed comparisons, Opera leads in all test criteria on Windows platform. And even Mozilla 1.8, which is using Gecko 1.8 (while Firefox 1.04 is still using Gecko 1.7) does better than Firefox in almost all test criteria. Hopefully the future Firefox 1.1 release which will be using Gecko 1.8 will do a lot better.
Back to Opera, basically I'm happy with it whenever I'm using it even though I'm more used to Firefox. However, the other day when I was trying to play iSketch using Internet Explorer, the flash game keeps making my Windows hangs every one to few minutes with almost 100% CPU usage. The same problem happened in Opera too. On the other hand the game was fine in Firefox and K-Meleon. Could it be some bugs in the game's coding? I don't know, but that gives me another reason to stay with Firefox ;)
